About Us

The Mountain Sky Conference United Women in Faith is a regional division of the United Women in Faith - the global women’s organization of The United Methodist Church with nearly 500,000 members.  The Mountain Sky Conference United Women in Faith includes women in faith in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and a small part of Idaho.

United Women in Faith

Our organization was started by eight women who met on a dark and stormy night in Boston on March 23, 1869.  They formed the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society (WFMS). Their first act was sending educator Isabella Thoburn and Dr. Clara Swain to India to provide healthcare and schooling for women and girls.

Now over 157 years and 25 names later, we are the United Women in Faith. Before 2022 we were known as United Methodist Women. In 2022, the organization began doing business as United Women in Faith to reflect a more inclusive and modern identity while maintaining its core mission.

Since our organization's beginning, United Women in Faith has been committed to advocating for women, children, and youth — those most overlooked and often most impacted by inequity. Our bold foremothers advocated to improve women’s health, raise women’s status in society, organize for fair wages and benefits for workers and families, and adopt the Charter for Racial Justice.  We continue our commitment to critical issues of justice today. Our social action priorities for the 2025-2028 quadrennium are climate justice and ending mass incarceration and the criminalization of communities of color.
